Evans On Possible “Captain America” Return

Marvel

The recent news of the hiring of Jake Schreier to direct Marvel Studios’ “Thunderbolts” film has led to a question – will we ever see actor Chris Evans step back into the Steve Rogers/Captain America role one more time?

Evans retired from the role with “Avengers: Endgame” and has seemingly shut the door on any potential return in interviews in the years since. Out doing promotional rounds for Pixar’s “Lightyear” film, the actor seemed pretty clear to Phase Zero CB that he has no plans to return to the MCU despite being aware of fan desire for it:

“Yeah, that seems to be something that people would like to see. I don’t want to disappoint anybody, but I just don’t know if — you know, it’s tough. It was such a good run and I’m so happy with it, you know, it’s so precious to me. It would have to be perfect.

It just would be scary to, you know, addle something that is, again, so – oh, so dear to me, and that role means so much to me. So, to revisit it – it would be a tall order.”

In April last year came word that a fourth “Captain America” is in development with “The Falcon And The Winter Soldier” showrunner Malcolm Spellman on board and likely continuing on with events from that series with Anthony Mackie as the new ‘Cap’.

The trio of “Captain America” solo films made $2.2 billion at the global box office.
