Dolph Lundgren Joins “The Witcher” Spin-Off

Veteran action star Dolph Lundgren has joined “The Witcher” franchise at Netflix according to Swedish outlet Aftonbladet.

The “Universal Solider” and “The Expendables” actor revealed he’s currently in South Africa to shoot a spin-off of the series, the show putting the focus on the group of young thieves known as the ‘Rats’.

In Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels, these misfits band together when the raging war on the Continent uproots their lives. They make their debut on the show’s upcoming third season, which is based on the book “Time of Contempt” which also introduced them.

The spin-off will serve as a prequel to the third season and show how they came to their life of crime. Though Lundgren’s role is not confirmed, it has been speculated he’s playing bounty hunter Leo Bonhart and so would serve as the villain of the spin-off along with potentially appearing in future seasons of the main show.

The upcoming third season marks the last appearance of Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, with Liam Hemsworth taking over the role for the show’s fourth season.

The third season is split into two parts, with Volume 1 to debut on Netflix on June 29th, followed by the second volume on July 27th.
